Territory, sustainability and respect for traditions, these are the cornerstones of the LA LASTRA WINERY, founded in 1994 with the aim of producing wines that are able to best express the potential of the Sienese hills.
Since 2000 we have been cultivating our vineyards following the principles of organic farming and enhancing the characteristics of the ancient native varieties of the region.
We grow and vinify only the grapes from our vineyards in TUSCANY:
- 8 hectares of red grapes on the hills near the ancient city of Siena surrounded by centuries-old olive trees. At the centre of all this there is a century-old farmhouse with cellar and tasting room and our Agriturismo Marciano where we host, in three quiet suites and as many rooms, those who wish to share with us a few days of our organic and rural life;
- 8.80 hectares lying on the hills of the wonderful San Gimignano, the thousand-year-old turreted village home of the most ancient Italian white wine, the Vernaccia di San Gimignano. Most part of our land is destined to grow Vernaccia vines, and in our small winery we vinify and mature two different types, Vernaccia and Vernaccia Reserve, with the distinctive flavour of the ancient sea that once upon a time submerged the now-famous Tuscan hills.
